"Gender identity is not necessarily tied to biological sex or sexual orientation."

A horror story that lives on: How we came to accept Dr. John Money's fraudulent research.

Dr. John Money is the father of gender relativity theory, he coined the terms "gender identity" and "gender roles."

In short, he wanted to prove the quote above, which is from my Kaplan MCAT Behavioral Sciences study book, that there are many "sexes," biological, mental, social, etc. and none of them is the "right one." To prove it, he cited his research on successfully turning a boy, "Bruce," into "Brenda." His research was widely accepted and to this day is being taught as fact. My Princeton Review textbook for psychology and sociology has a similar line derived from Dr. Money's research: "Gender is not an inherent fact but a social construction learned through gender socialization."

However, the "success" of that research was a plain lie. Dr. Money could not turn this boy into a girl after much unethical psychological and sexual abuse. His victim, publicly shared his story to help others and revealed the horrors he experienced. He and his brother, who was also abused by Dr. Money both ended up committing suicide. God rest their souls.

Be careful watching the documentaries on Dr. Money and what he did to David Reimer because it can be very adult, explicit, and downright evil. Here is a news story on it:

My Kaplan book goes on to say that in our culture, it's normal to have two sexes, but in Samoa, there is a "third gender," the fa'afafine, which is "an important social caste" highly respected, treated completely normally, and they are androgynous, simultaneously very masculine and very feminine (this is an expansion of Freud's perverse theory about bisexuality). However, reading accounts about them, the are described, not as androgynous, but very effeminate, not as their own social caste, but 0.25% of the Samoan population, which is not accepted by Samoan law, traditional leaders, or religious leaders (Samoa is 99% Christian, so that's important). A pro- fa'afafine article even acknowledges that Samoa has a deep Christian tradition and to be overtly sexual is very unSamoan. It goes on to describe the fa'afafine as tending to be hypersxual, rude, and innapropriate.

Parents also try to prevent their sons from becoming this, which is odd if they are such an important social caste.

What my Kaplan book must be referring this is the fact that they are allowed to have jobs, such as a teacher or banker. That doesn't mean Samoan culture sees three genders as completely normal.

Some fa'afafine themselves will say that they are a relic of ancient Samoan culture before the Christians came to evangelize it. That they were Margaret Mead's Taupou (village maiden virgins), she just didn't realize it! She and Derek Freeman have a lot to say about the the reverence for chastity in native Samoan culture, and I'll let you explore that at your own risk. But what is clear is that Taupou were the DAUGHTERS of chieftains set aside to remain VIRGINS until MARRIE. In fact, if they were found not to be virgins they would be beaten to death. Nothing could be further from fa'afafine.

CONCLUSION
If something is effeminate, it pertains to women, and manly characteristics pertain to men. The summit of human masculinity is Jesus Christ's total self giving in love on Calvary, and the summit of human feminity is Mary's total self-emptying and receiving of His love. Both women and men have immense dignity and are to be highly respected.
